REGISTRATION FOR CREDIT
Internship Registration for Credit
Students can sign up for internships and apprenticeships directly with Virtual-University.us (V-U) if they are not affiliated with another university.
To oversee a student's work-study program directly, provide ongoing training and supervision, and to award credit as a non-degree program, Virtual-University.us charges just $200 per month, with a minimum initial charge of $800 to cover the first four months.
While taking an internship or apprenticeship directly through V-U, students also have other writing assignments that need to be submitted to V-U professors, and you are required to attend an online seminar at least once a week.
These seminars are typically conducted on a multimedia web-conferencing system that allows a professor and class members to use video, audio, text chat, slides and a follow-me web browser to share presentations and instruction.
For each month of "full-time-equivalent" work-study, V-U awards two academic credits. This means if an intern is only serving a part-time internship of 20 hours a week, he would earn one credit during that month.
Achieve your
master’s degree FREE!
And you can begin working on your M.A.
even before your B.A. is completed.
This is how V-U's master's degree program works. You serve 6-8 work-study professional internships while taking multimedia courses and attending live webinars.
• 80 hours of internship, online instruction or independent research/reporting per graduate credit.
• 36 credits (2,880 flexible hours of work-study) required to complete your master’s degree.
No Tuition! It's underwritten by employers.
A limited number of spots are available for this free master's degree program. If a student enters the program and then quits, that spot essentially goes to waste. To make sure you are committed to this program, we do charge a $1,000 registration fee, which we return to you 100% upon graduation./strong>
While taking an internship directly through V-U, students also have other writing assignments that need to be submitted to V-U professors, including a Final Professional Project, and you are required to attend an online webinar at least once a week. /strong>
These seminars are typically conducted on a multimedia web-conferencing system that allows a professor and class members to use webcams, recorded video, live and recorded audio, text chat, Powerpoint slides, white board, and a follow-me web browser to share presentations and instruction. /strong>
For each month of "full-time-equivalent" work-study, V-U awards two academic credits. At this rate a student can complete the master's degree in 18 months. However, a student can take essentially as long as he needs -- two years, three years, even five years./strong>
EMPLOYMENT GUARANTEE
We guarantee success. Indeed, you can continue attending webinars and completing internships FREE OF CHARGE as long as it takes for you to find full-time employment within the communications industry./strong>
V-U is not yet accredited by an independent accrediting agency. Until it is, credit awarded by V-U cannot be transferred to most other universities. However, V-U credit does satisfy employers' requirement that an intern be receiving credit in lieu of wages./strong>
According to our surveys, mass media employers do not care as much about the degree as the practical experience a prospective employee has. /strong>
Many media executives have said they are willing to hire political science, liberal arts, and even math and science graduates as long as they have some practical training and a successful internship that demonstrates they can do the job. In fact, we have helped older students find lucrative mass media employment without any degree whatsoever. /strong>
